Pretrial Set In Confinement Case

The case of a London couple accused of locking their nephew in a filthy bedroom for up to two years will go to pretrial on July 3.

The pair, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, face charges of forcible confinement and failing to provide the necessaries of life. They will meet with lawyers, a Korean interpreter and a judge for four hours.

Their 10-year-old nephew was rescued from an Asima Dr. home in May.

A neighbour, who saw movement behind a curtain but had never seen a child at the home, called the Children's Aid Society.

Police found the boy locked inside a squalid bedroom. They say he had been in there for up to two years and was fed fast food twice a day. When he was found he was wearing urine soaked pajamas and had shoulder length hair.

The accused are not originally from Canada and have had a lawyer appear on their behalf for each scheduled court date.

The boy was treated for malnourishment and then placed in foster care.

Children's Aid also seized the couple's biological daughter from the home.
