GoodLife Fitness Looking At Target Locations

Some Target locations in Canada may not stay empty for long when the company pulls up stakes and leaves the country.

A statement from GoodLife Fitness says it will look at former Target Canada store locations as part of its growth strategy.

Founder of the London-based company, David Patchell-Evans says the stores would be "spacious and convenient locations.''

"We want to continue growing until every Canadian is able to benefit from using one of our clubs," says Patchell-Evans. "When considering a business to take over some of the Target locations, GoodLife is a perfect partner because of our long-term success and our experience with this type of location."

The statement points out GoodLife acquired 12 Eaton's locations in 1999.

Target announced last Thursday that it was shutting down its Canadian operations. All 133 of its Canadian stores, including two in London, will shut down.
