Update: Dream Lottery Winners Announced

A pair of business partners from Sarnia are the grand prize winners in London Hospital's Dream Lottery.

Mary Anic and Marcy DiMaria split on a ticket for the lottery and were drawn as the Grand Prize winners.  They will choose between two model homes, valued at over $1-million each, or $1-million in cash. The winner of the 50/50 draw was Nicholaos Fragiskatos from Hensall who receives more than $380,000.

The draw was made Thursday morning and the two Sarnia women drove down to check out the homes and vehicles being offered.

Marcy DiMaria says she can't believe her luck.

"I won the dream home in Sarnia in 1999, so this is the second bolt of lightning for me," she says. "With that one, we gave money back to the hospital, we shared money with other people, and (we'll do) the same thing with this money."

All money raised through ticket sales and the 50/50 draw stays local. It is divided between St. Joseph's Health Care, The London Health Sciences Centre and The Children's Hospital.

"Since its inception the Dream Lottery has raised over $25.6-million for the benefit of the community, so it's pretty remarkable. It is too soon to tell, but when all is said and done we will likely raise in excess of $500,000 this year," says President of the London Health Sciences Foundation John MacFarlane. "It's win-win. People are going to win great prizes and the hospitals are going to win because it's going to support great equipment, research and patient care for everyone."

This year, 95% of available tickets were sold.
