Police Bust Meth, Cocaine Drug Trafficking Ring

A total of 33 people are facing 138 drug and weapons charges following a major OPP drug trafficking investigation in Huron, Perth and Lambton County.

Project Pinecreek started in 2012. A total of 11 search warrants were executed at 11 locations this past week.

In those searches, police seized the following items:

• 132 g of cocaine (worth an estimated value of $3,200)
• 21 ounces of methamphetamine (estimated value $31,500)
• 46 lbs of marihuana (estimated value $82,000)
• 32 g of hydromorphone powder (estimated value $2,900)
• 423 pills (estimated value $2,100)
• 26 g of cannabis resin (estimated value $260)
• Three restricted weapons (rifles),  six prohibited weapons (push dagger, sawed-off shotgun, butterfly knife, brass knuckles, canister of pepper spray, blow gun) and one collapsible baton.

$22,000 worth of stolen property was seized as well, including a bicycles, tools, an ATV, a motorcycle, a 2002 pick-up truck and $6,000 in Canadian currency.

"We're involved in numerous, not only local, but multi-jurisdictional and even international (investigations). For us locally, this is very significant and very impactful," says Chris Martin, Huron County OPP Detachment Commander.  "Whether it's a small, rural centre or a heavily populated urban centre, the drug sub-culture operates from within and can be far reaching from community to community."

Of the 33 charged, 27 are from Huron County, four are from Lambton, while the other two reside in Perth and Bruce County respectively.
