Santa Coming To Argyle

The final Santa Claus parade of the season in London is set for Saturday afternoon.

The Argyle Business Association is hosting a Santa Claus parade that will see more than 60 participants, including 25 floats, make their way down Dundas St.

The parade begins at 2pm at the Home Depot on Clarke Rd., then heads west on Dundas St. to just east of Highbury Ave.

Argyle BIA Manager Heidi Currie says the response has been much bigger than they anticipated.

"We thought we might have a nice small community parade," says Currie. "We actually have 67 participants, of which 25 are floats."

The numbers of participants exceeded expectations to the point that organizers had to change the location of the staging area from the parking lot at Canadian Tire to the parking lot at Home Depot.

Spectators are being asked to consider bringing donations for various charities.

"We're supporting the Toy Mountain campaign, so if anybody wants to bring any toys for that campaign, we'll be collecting them during the parade," says Currie. "We're also collecting non-perishable foods for the Salvation Army. Cleats for Kids will also be collecting cleats and Keeping Kids Warm will be collecting hats and mitts."
