Little Snowfall, Lots Of Problems

The London area didn't get a lot of snow compared to Buffalo, where 6 ft fell in a short span of time.

Environment Canada says the London-Middlesex area received about 10 cm on Wednesday.  School buses are operating on time this morning but the OPP say the snow was enough to add dozens of collisions to the total of about 400 for our region in the last couple of days.

OPP had to close part of Hwy. 402 west of Longwoods Rd. for a couple of hours Wedensday night because of a collision involving three transports. The closure began at about 8pm and ended at 10:30pm.

There are closures north of London again this morning. Hwy. 21 is closed from Kincardine to Port Elgin. Blowing snow advisories are in place for Huron, Perth and northern Grey counties as well as a snow squall watch for Huron and Perth. Details HERE.

Police say all of this should be enough to convince you to put a winter safety kit in your car. OPP Sergeant Dave Rektor says the kit can be a life saver in an emergency.

The London area can expect another 5 cm of snow late Thursday and overnight into Friday. In Buffalo they're bracing for another 90 cm, up to 2.5 ft, on Thursday.
