Londoners Scrambling To Install Snow Tires

As the city gets its first dose of winter weather, many Londoners are scrambling to get their snow tires on.

OPP are urging motorists to make sure ther vehciles are prepared for heavy snow by topping up all fluids, installing snow tires and making sure all your headlights are working.

"'Tis the season, during the first snow our phone starts ringing off the hook," says Owner of AutoStrada Inc. Andrew Malacaria. "There are two types of people; people who are super prepared and the last mintuers, for sure. We call all season tires the three season tires, which are spring, summer and fall, because they don't work after the temperature hits -7C. They go hard, aren't flexible and then don't get the traction."

Just today, OPP across Ontario responded to 248 weather related crashes.

OPP say on Friday, officers were called to 20 collisions on Hwy. 401 and Hwy. 403.

"It's very important that people make the investment in snow tires, it will save you money in the long run," notes Malacaria.

Environment Canada is predicting flurries will continue throughout the week.
