OPP have charged the driver of a chartered bus that crashed on eastbound Hwy. 401 Tuesday afternoon west of Drumbo.

Oxford OPP say the Campbell bus lines charter from Columbus, Ohio was carrying 30 Grade 8 students and three adult chaperones on their way to Toronto when it went off the road near Oxford Rd. 29 at around 5 pm. Police say no other vehicles were involved.

There were no serious injuries.

One chaperone was taken to hospital and three children were treated on the scene. Thomas Peters, 71, of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania is charged with careless driving.

OPP laid four additional charges to four drivers passing by for using handheld devices to photograph the scene.

A detour on the eastbound 401 was put in place for about an hour on Tuesday afternoon. One eastbound lane was opened until approximately 10 pm, when all lanes were cleared.
