Bringing Back Halloween In Schools

A public school board candidate is vowing to bring back traditional Halloween celebrations in all schools, if elected.

Shawn Lewis says the “orange and black” celebrations across some schools need to go and a consistent policy that allows kids to celebrate Halloween in a fun, safe way needs to be implemented.

“I understand the frustration of parents who struggle with principals and school boards that have, at best, inconsistent policies around how our cultural celebrations are marked in schools,” says Lewis. “I’ve heard from countless parents that think orange and black day is just political correctness run amok, and frankly I get where they are coming from.”

He notes while students should be allowed to wear costumes there would be guidelines as to what is accepted and appropriate for school.
