Police Keep Homecoming Revelers Moving
Thousands of Western Homecoming celebrants flooded streets around the university but, unlike last year, it appears there were no major disputes.
In 2013, London police were criticized for ticketing the Western cheerleading squad for performing on a crowded street. Afterward, meetings were held between student representatives and police officials and they seem to have paid off. Over the weekend dozens of police officers cleared Broughdale Ave. of thousands of students. Police are expected to release information about any tickets and arrests later on Monday.
On Saturday, an estimated crowd of 11,000 watched the Western Mustangs defeat the visiting Toronto Varsity Blues, 63-15 at TD Stadium.
