Police are investigating after two suspicious packages were dropped in front of the Central Library on Dundas St. in London

The bomb squad used a robot to examine a backpack and larger bag, then detonated the items in the downtown core just after 7pm.

A 50-year-old man is in custody in connection with the incident. No charges have been laid, but police say he is a person of interest in the case.

All buildings in the area were evacuated. Dundas St. has been reopened between Clarence and Wellington Rd.

Police are releasing little information about the suspect, who was arrested just after 3pm.

More to come.
