Western Fair Opens

An annual tradition in London kicks off Friday as the gates of the Western Fair open.

The ten-day event will draw tens of thousands of people who will hit the rides, eat the food, pet the animals, and see the shows.

Fair spokesperson Heather Blackwell says music lovers will also get to see another great series of free concerts, including Friday’s show by The Sheepdogs presented by Free 98-1.

“It’s a great line-up and all concerts are free with admission to the fair,” says Heather Blackwell, corporate affairs manager with the Western Fair District.

Free 98-1 will also present Warrant on Sunday night. Other acts playing the free concert stage include Glass Tiger, London-raised Shad, and country singer Brent Kissel.

Fair-goers can also expect the usual culinary delights. This year, a contest was held to pick new deep-fried offerings at the fair. The winners were deep-fried ice cream and deep-fried mushroom caps stuffed with herbed cream cheese.
