Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is now probing a fiery, single-car collision on Vanneck Rd. just west of the city.

Eyewitness Kavin Noble, who lives on Vanneck Rd., says the crash woke him up around 2:30am. He says he went to the scene, and when he arrived, there were several police cruisers there.

“I walked up to them and said, ‘What’s going on?’ and they didn’t say too much other than there’d been a crash. But I could tell, just from all the police presence, that there had been a chase.”

“I got a flashlight, walked out through my field, and when I looked down at the crash scene, there were, I would say, at least 10 police cruisers. The car, the flames were shooting up 20 feet in the air,” says Kavin.

Eyewitness Jason tells Blackburn News it started with a police chase.

“I heard it was a stolen BMW that crashed into a tree. Buddy fled and was later found by a cruiser in front of my house and taken by ambulance to hospital.”

Jason says the car caught fire and his photos show the foam around the car after the fire was extinguished.

Middlesex OPP say officers ere conducting patrols in Middlesex Centre and tried to stop a vehicle on 12 Mile Road, but the driver took off, heading west.

A 38-year-old London man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
