“Rock Back To School” On Record Pace

With about a week until school starts, the donations for this year’s “Rock Back to School” campaign are pouring in.

The Salvation Army’s Perron Goodyear says the numbers he’s been given are a record.

“From my understanding, it’s going extremely well. This year we’re working directly with the Thames Valley Education Foundation, we’re so grateful for them,” says Goodyear.

Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed directly through the school system from elementary school all the way up to high school.

“If you go to the Thames Valley District School Board website, they even have a list of particular age groups,” says Goodyear. “So if you’re looking for a specific grade you want to purchase things for, you can get a list right there.”

Goodyear says donations will be accepted right up until school starts and beyond. Donations will be taken at Real Canadian Superstore locations, Preferred Insurance, Classic Rock Free 98.1FM, or any Salvation Army location.

“It’s an unbelieve feeling to see a child’s eyes light up when you give them something,” says Goodyear. “We really want to put everybody on the same playing field and add that dignity back into children’s lives.”
