Police Say Driver Impaired And Distracted

A woman stopped by police for talking on her cellphone while behind the wheel also found herself charged with impaired driving.

St. Thomas police say that around 8 pm Thursday, one of their officers noticed a woman chatting on a phone while driving and pulled her over.  She was given a roadside breath test, which she failed, and taken to the police station where breath samples showed she had twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.  The 30-year old has been charged with impaired driving, distracted driving and having open liquor in the vehicle. Police have not released her name.

St. Thomas police note that this it the 31st person they’ve charged with impaired driving since May 1, 2014. That’s an arrest every two-and-a-half-days.
