Charges Laid In Pipeline Protest

Oxford County OPP have made a number of arrests and laid several charges after a protest at an Enbridge construction site.

The protests started on Tuesday, Aug. 5 to stop the construction of a valve on a pipeline near Innerkip. OPP were called in to mediate the situation.

Police say 30-year-old Patricia Mills of Hamilton is charged with the following:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Mischief – Interfere with lawful use, enjoyment of operation of property – over $5,000
  • Disobeying Order of Court
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)

As well, Rachel Avery of Hamilton, Wolfgang Chrapko of Guelph, Erica Rathie of Guelph and David Vasey have been charged with the following:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Mischief – Interfere with lawful use, enjoyment of operation of property – over $5,000
  • Disobeying Order of Court

All were held in custody pending bail hearings.
