Move Over for Police

As the long weekend approaches the OPP are asking drivers to keep their officer safe on the roadside.

In the past two decades five OPP officers have died after being hit by a car that didn’t move over while their emergency lights were activated.

Sergeant Chrystal Jones says drivers need to know the law.

Jones says if you see an emergency vehicle parked on the side of the road with lights activated, driver must move over to the next lane if possible.  If a driver is caught not moving over they can face a $400-to-$2,000 fine and three demerit points.
