Bob Facca of London is making his way though Tilbury on the 88th day of his walk to fundraise for Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.

Facca started his journey on May 2 and has plans to end in Winnipeg in December. So far, he has raise over $525,000 to go towards researching the disease.

“There’s no tough parts of the walk, it has been phenomenal . Our motivation is to find a cure and all the support we have has been fabulous,” says Facca. “Research is getting better and better, they’re close to finding a treatment. We’re getting closer. We should have a treatment in the next year or two.”

Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy is a fatal degenerative disease that impacts one in every 4,000-6,000 boys. Facca’s grandson Louie suffers from the disease and is the reason he walks 20km every day.

Facca will make it to Leamington and Kingsville on Wednesday before heading to LaSalle and Amherstburg on Thursday.
