Majors Win Second-Last Regular Season Game

The London Majors needed some extra frames to take down the Toronto Maple Leafs in their second-last game of the regular season.
The Majors came out ahead, 5-3, in the tenth inning in Toronto. A two-run shot by Cleveland Brownlee in the top of the tenth proved to be the difference. It was Brownlee’s seventh home run of the season.
London’s Carlos Martinez went seven innings and allowed three runs. The Major’s Brett Sabourin took the win in relief pitching scoreless eighth, ninth and tenth innings. Justin Lawrence took the loss in relief going two innings but giving up the winning runs on Brownlee’s home run. Brownlee finished with two hits and three RBI in the game.
London, now 22-13, plays their final game Monday night when they face the Royals in Guelph.
The IBL playoffs begin on July 30. The Majors have a comfortable lead in the race for second-place and the other bye in the first round. The Barrie Baycats clinched first place.
