Police Creating Autism Spectrum Disorder Registry
London Police Service has partnered with the London Region Chapter of Autism Ontario to better identify and deal with people with autism spectrum disorder.
Police plan to have the ASD Registry in operation within two weeks. Its aim is to create better communication between individuals with ASD, their caregivers and police. Officers will have quick access to details about the person in case there’s an emergency call or if they go missing. If the person is unable to communicate, the Registry will quickly put the officer in touch with family members.
To join the registry, a person with ASD or their caregiver can fill out a form by contacting the Family Consultant/Victims Services Unit at London Police service at (519) 661-5636.
