Gun Seized In Drug Bust

A gun, clips, and ammunition seized by London police in a June 9, 2014 bust.

Two London men face charges after drugs and what police are calling an “assault rifle” were seized in a bust in south London.

On Monday, June 9 police arrested two men and searched two vehicles in the area of Wilkins St. and Sandringham Cr.

Officers seized $3,520 worth of drugs, as well as a loaded Justright Carbine semi-automatic 9mm gun.

Over 300 rounds of ammunition were also seized, along with three ammunition clips.

Youssiff Habash, 31, has been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

  • Possess Schedule II substance, contrary to section 4(1); and
  • Possess Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2).

Ali Bhatti, 20, has been charged with 14 Criminal Code of Canada offences related to firearms and ammunition as well as the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

  • Unlawfully possess Schedule I substance, contrary to section 4(1); and
  • Possess Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2).

Both men were to appear in court Tuesday.
