London police say a woman involved in a serious crash on Oxford St. W on Wednesday morning has succumbed to her injuries.

The female driver of a silver VW sedan had to be extricated from her car after the two-vehicle collision. Constable Ken Steeves tells Blackburn News she had no vital signs at the scene but was revived. She was taken to hospital in critical condition, but died later Wednesday morning.

Police will not be releasing her name until next-of-kin is notified.

The male driver of the pick-up truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle at the time of the crash.

The collision prompted London police to close a stretch of Oxford St. W just west of a construction zone. Steeves says they expect to keep the area blocked off until around 1:30pm as they investigate.  Oxford St. W is closed from Sanitorium Rd. to Kains Rd.

If you’re coming to London from the west, you’ll need to take Commissioners Rd. through Byron.  If you’re approaching from the east, you’ll be forced south on Sanitorium to Byron. There is also single-lane construction on Oxford St. W between Hyde Park Rd. and Sanitorium Rd.
