Push To Save Lorne Ave Continues Despite Board DecisionMay 14, 2014 10:02am
On Tuesday night, the Thames Valley District School Board made it clear that it’s moving ahead with plans to close Lorne Avenue Public School in June of next year.
Most of the students attending the low-enrollment school will be bused to Bishop Townsend Public School, which needs millions of dollars worth of renovations.
Scott Maclean of the group, Save Lorne Ave, says they’re changing their tactics with an appeal to the province to stop the renos.
Maclean says they also plan to appeal the Accommodation Review Process that led to the board’s decision to close Lorne Ave. He says they are in close contact with other municipalities facing the same issues and plan to move forward as quickly as possible, before the June 2015 closure deadline.
