Grandpa Bob’s Walk for Jesse’s Journey
A London grandfather leaves today from Quebec City for the first leg of a 4,000 km walk to Winnipeg.
Bob Facca is hoping the trek will help raise money to fund a cure for Duchenne Muscular Distrophy, a disease that his 6-year-old grandson is diagnosed with.
Facca says the hope is that with more cash, researchers will find a cure to the crippling condition.
Facca is raising money for Jesse’s Journey, a charity started by John Davidson who walked across Canada for Duchenne in 1998.
Facca has already raised over 300 thousand dollars and is hoping to collect even more in each centre he stops in. Clinical trials are currently underway for a potential cure.
