Another Flu Death In London-Middlesex
Cases of influenza were down in London-Middlesex last week, but officials say one person died of the flu.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit says there were 13 new cases of the flu in the region from May 5th to 11th, compared to 17 cases the week before. All of the cases were identified as part of the Influenza B strain.
One person who had previously been reported as having the flu died last week, bringing the total number of deaths to 16 this flu year.
Since the beginning of the flu season (September 1, 2013) there have been 203 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza A, 191 cases of influenza B, and two cases with both strains reported in London-Middlesex.
More than half of those infected have been adults between the ages of 20 and 64.
