McNaughton Claims Liberals Will Raise Gas Tax
The MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex says he is convinced the Liberals will increase the gas tax by $0.10 a litre if they are re-elected.
At a campaign stop in London on Tuesday, Monte McNaughton says the Liberals’ fiscal plan has a huge hole in it and they’re short half the money they need for their public transit project. He also says that Londoners can’t afford what he claims is a $0.10 a litre increase in the provincial gas tax. According to McNaughton, it’s hard to believe the Liberals wouldn’t impose the tax.
As for his party, McNaughton says the Progressive Conservatives have a plan for infrastructure, as well as jobs, which doesn’t involve increasing taxes.
Liberal MPP for London North Centre Deb Matthews took to Twitter to deny McNaughton’s claims, saying there would be no increase to the gas tax.
