Prescription Drop-off Day This Saturday

London police are again taking part in the annual Prescription Drop-off day this coming Saturday.

The province-wide initiative gathers old and unused medications for proper disposal.  Part of the reason is to keep them out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them, but Media Officer Ken Steeves says it’s also not environmentally friendly to flush the drugs or put them out with the trash.

Steeves says it’s as simple as driving up and handing over the medications, no questions asked, to officers and Westervelt students who are volunteering on that day. Last year, they took in nearly 300 lbs. of medications.

London police officers will be at Loblaws North on Richmond St on Monday afternoon,  hosting an info session between 12pm  – 3pm.  On Tuesday, they’ll be at Cherryhill Village Mall, also from 12pm  – 3pm.  The Drop-off goes Saturday May 10, 2014, from 10am – 2pm at White Oaks Mall, Cherryhill Village Mall and Loblaws North.
