Wharncliffe-Riverside To Close

Drivers who normally pass through the intersection of Wharncliffe Rd. and Riverside Dr. will have to find another route for a couple of days.

The storm sewer repair project that was postponed last month will begin Sunday. It’s expected to continue into Monday, when crews will finish the job and re-pave the area.

While the workers are on site,

  • Riverside Dr. traffic heading east towards downtown will be detoured north at Woodward Ave. over to Oxford St.
  • Wharncliffe Rd. traffic headed north will only be able to turn right
  • Riverside Dr. traffic headed west will only be able to turn right
  • Wharncliffe Rd. traffic headed south will only be able to turn right.

“This is an emergency repair and we will return the road to full service as quickly as possible,” says John Braam, managing director of Environmental and Engineering Services and city engineer. “We appreciate the understanding and patience of our residents while this necessary repair of our infrastructure is undertaken.”

The work was to have been done in April, but cold weather forced the city to postpone the job.
