London Marks National Day of Mourning
This morning, London labour leaders, families, politicians and dignitaries will gather to mark the National Day of Mourning for workers injured or killed on the job. The National Day of Mourning also aims to prevent future injuries and deaths.
The London and District Labour Council will hold its event at 10am Monday in its Tolpuddle Co-operative Common Room, 380 Adelaide St. North, London. Speakers will include Essex MPP Taras Natyshak and London MP Irene Mathyssen as well as Len Elliott, Local 102, Executive Board Member of OPSEU.
The Labour Council says more than 100 countries now observe the National Day of Mourning. The Canadian Labour Congress first declared the Day in 1984.
