Rail Safety Week Begins

Putting a stop to the “try to beat the train” mentality, that’s the goal of Look, Listen and Live, a week aimed at keeping people safe around railways.

Monday marks the start of Public-Rail Safety week in Canada.

London’s Division Manager of Roads and Transportation, Doug MacRae says they’ll use the week to spread a really simple but vital message.

Every year in Canada, there are roughly 250 collisions involving trains and vehicles and 90 between trains and pedestrians.

MacRae says people need to keep in mind that railways are different than roadways.

35 CN trains travel through London, while up to 22 CPR trains pass through the city daily.

A rail trespassing enforcement blitz will be held from 8am to 9:30am Monday at the CNR at Colborne St.
