Tree Planting For Earth Day London

On the calendar, Earth Day was on Tuesday April 22, but it will be celebrated on Sunday with a mass planting of trees and shrubs at Watson Street Park.

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority will lead the activities for the 21st Earth Day London in the park on the south side of the Thames River, off Wellington Rd. ¬†Volunteers will plant 1,500 trees and wildlife shrubs to help protect the Thames’ corridor as it flows through London.

Admission will be free to the park for Earth Day London from 11am-3pm, Sunday April 27, 2014.  Activities will include Canadian Raptor Conservancy demonstrations and a free draw for a bike.  Refreshments will be available for purchase. Parking is available along both sides of South St. and at the end of Watson St.

The UTRCA plans to plant more than 70,000 trees over the next three weeks. Since 1950, they’ve planted more than 10-million trees.
