Suspected Impaired Driver Hits Cruiser

Woodstock police have laid impaired driving charges after a vehicle backed into one of their cruisers.

Police got the call about a possible impaired driver in the Cedar St. area from a concerned citizen shortly after 2am Sunday.

Officers spotted the 2003 black Honda Civic as it blew threw a red light at Wilson St. and Peel St. Police pulled the suspect vehicle over, but before officers could approach the driver, the vehicle reversed crashing into the police cruiser.

No one was injured and the cruiser sustained only minor damage.

39-year-old Malcolm Gayle of Woodstock is charged with impaired driving and refusing to give a breath sample. He will make his first court appearance on April 8.
