London-area hits double-digit COVID numbers again

London-Middlesex is once again reporting a daily COVID-19 case count in the double-digits.

The regional health unit recorded 11 new cases on Sunday, bringing the local total to 856.

This marks the third day this week that the region saw a daily caseload above nine. On Wednesday, 12 additional cases were reported with 14 new cases reported on Friday.

In addition to several new cases, four new recoveries were reported on Sunday. Since the pandemic began, 704 people have recovered from the virus in the London-area.

There are currently four active institutional outbreaks in the region and one confirmed COVID-19 case at H.B. Beal Secondary School in London.

Across the province, it was another day of increasing numbers. Ontario health officials reported 491 new cases with 137 coming from Toronto, 131 in Peel and 58 in both the Ottawa and York regions.
