Grey County suspends all licensed child care services in wake of COVID-19
Grey County has suspended all licensed child care services effective immediately.
The decision was made at the direction of the province and applies to all licensed child care services in Ontario.
Grey County Communications Manager Rob Hatten said there are 30 licensed providers in the county. The announcement, which came Tuesday morning, said they must close immediately so operators are contacting parents to come and get their kids.
Hatten said obviously this will be problematic.
“I know it’s still the early hours of this announcement and parents will have some work to do to find alternative care and to juggle their own schedules. But, certainly, we do understand that this is going to be a challenging time for parents,” said Hatten.
The province is also recommending the closure of unlicensed child care but these businesses are not regulated by Grey County.
Operators will be kept informed of changes and supports available to them during as the situation progresses.
