Impaired driver found asleep at intersection, hits police cruiser 

A Wallaceburg man faces several charges after allegedly hitting a police cruiser and trying to drive away at the intersection of Grand and Keil Drive in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said a nearby citizen found the driver passed out inside a vehicle at the intersection.

Police said when the man woke up, he hit a police cruiser by accelerating and tried to drive away.

He was stopped by officers and arrested. He was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired 80 plus, flight from police, dangerous operation, and resist arrest.

He was released with a future court date on May 20.

Man charged after entering wrong home

A Chatham man is facing charges after entering the wrong home and allegedly assaulting the homeowner.

Police said the man was found intoxicated inside the home on James Street by the owner.

After a short struggle, police said the man fled the home.

He was found in the area and placed under arrest.

He was charged with assault and unlawfully in a dwelling.
