Man charged with break and enter

Damaging a residence on Park Street in Chatham has landed a 29-year-old man with charges.

Police said the man was recently evicted from the residence, but showed up there on Thursday morning and allegedly kicked the door several times.

Officers said the door broke free of the frame when the complainant called the police and the suspect fled.

While an officer was speaking with the victim, the man returned and was arrested for breaking and entering a dwelling house to commit mischief.

The Chatham man was later released with a future court date.

Impaired driver in Tilbury

Chatham-Kent police arrested a Stoney Point man after receiving multiple reports of an impaired driver along Queen Street North in the town of Tilbury on Thursday night.

An officer located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was arrested for operating a conveyance while impaired by alcohol.

A 32-year-old Stoney Point man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he allegedly blew more than double the legal limit.

He was released from custody with a future court date.

Pair of warrant arrests in Chatham

Two people who were wanted for outstanding warrants were arrested on Thursday.

Police were called to a housing complex on William Street in Chatham on Thursday night, where they discovered a tenant has shut the power off to the entire building.

A police check showed that the tenant was currently wanted for failing to attend court.

A 29-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on the warrant and was additionally charged with mischief.

She was released from custody with a future court date.

Meanwhile, an officer on general patrol located a man on Colborne Street in Chatham who was wanted for failing to attend court.

The 50-year-old Chatham man was arrested and later released with a future court date.
