Man arrested after allegedly walking around with axe

A man is facing several charges after Chatham-Kent police got a call about someone walking around with an axe in Ridgetown.

Police got a report about a man walking down the road with an axe near St. Michael Catholic School.

Officers located the man at another address that he was on release conditions not to attend.

Police went to arrest the suspect when a struggle took place and he allegedly tried to flee from officers.

He was eventually arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, breach of release, resisting police and escaping lawful custody.

He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Fraud arrest in Chatham

A man will have to answer to a trio of charges after allegedly committing fraud in Chatham.

According to police, the man tried to cash a cheque that didn't belong to him at a local business.

He was located, arrested and charged with fraud, uttering a forged document and possession of stolen property.

He was then transported to Chatham-Kent police headquarters and released with a future court date.

Suspicious person call results in arrest 

A man is in trouble with the law after police got a call about a suspicious person in Wallaceburg.

The call was received from a business on McNaughton Avenue.

The suspect was located and found to be on conditions not to attend the business.

He was transported to the police station and held for a bail hearing.

LCBO theft leads to arrest 

A man will have to answer to a charge after once again being caught allegedly stealing in Chatham.

Police allege that the man stole a bottle from the LCBO on Wellington Street West.

Officers identified the suspect and located him later in the day. According to police, this was the third theft charge against the man.

He was placed under arrest and transported to Chatham-Kent headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Warrant arrest 

Chatham-Kent police were able to nab someone on their wanted list.

The man, who had an outstanding warrant for this arrest, was located on Keil Drive in Chatham.

The man was arrested and also found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

He was taken to the police station and held for a bail hearing.

Break and enter in Chatham

Police are investigating after a break and enter in Chatham.

A resident came home and discovered that their property on Thornhill Crescent had been entered.
