Police investigate break-ins at storage facility

Police were notified of multiple break and enters at a storage unit facility over the weekend.

Between 2:30 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. Saturday, unknown suspect(s) entered several units at the business. Officers are working with the owners to determine what items may have been stolen.

Thief identified after dropping his wallet at the scene

Officers attended a business on Richmond Street in Chatham for a reported theft on Saturday.

A man discovered the stereo had been removed from his trailered boat, which was being prepared for storage. Upon arrival, police found the wallet of the suspected thief, and when they tracked the suspect down, he admitted to the crime and was arrested.

The 43-year-old man was charged with theft, and possession of stolen property, he was later released from custody with a future court date.

Electronics stolen from Chatham home

Police were notified of a break and enter at a home on Pioneer Line on Saturday.

Sometime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., a suspect(s) broke a rear window to enter the home, and stole around $3,500 in electronics.
