Two men arrested on warrants

An 18-year-old Wallaceburg man and a 59-year-old Chatham man were arrested on warrants.

On Saturday, at around 5:15 a.m. Chatham-Kent Police arrested an 18-year-old man on a warrant for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The Wallaceburg man was located by police in a Wallaceburg parking lot and arrested and transported to police headquarters to be held for a bail hearing.

On Saturday at around 9:15 a.m. Chatham-Kent Police arrested a 59-year-old man on a warrant for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The Chatham man was located on Gray St in Chatham and arrested, transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Woman charged with shoplifting and possession of stolen property 

A 22-year-old woman was charged with possession of property.

On Saturday at 10:30 a.m. police received a complaint of a woman allegedly shoplifting at a Chatham business.

Police arrived on scene and learned that the woman had allegedly stolen property from the business. Police also learned that she was in possession of a stolen bicycle.

She was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5000.

She was released pending a future court date.

Car pursuit leads to warrant

On Saturday at around 11:00 p.m. police chased a suspicious car outside of Chatham.

After observing the suspicious vehicle, police tried to speak with the driver who drove away from police.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but, it drove onto the 401 highway and because of concerns for the safety of the community, people inside of the vehicle and police, the pursuit was ended.

The driver of the vehicle was later identified and a warrant for arrest was issued.
