Man charged with assault after attempted robbery 

A 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested after an attempted robbery and three separate assault incidents against another man.

The incidents happened between June 30 and July 12, 2019

During three of the four incidents, a weapon was used. The men had known each other. The victim sustained only minimal injuries.

On Saturday at 1:30 p.m. the suspect was found at an address in Wallaceburg. He was arrested and charged with assault, robbery and two counts of assault with a weapon.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

Man arrested on warrant

A 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on outstanding warrants.

In August 2018 he was released from custody with conditions. One of his conditions was to not have any communication with a certain woman that he had known.

In September 2018, he had called the woman. At that time, police did not know where the man was living and a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offence of failing to comply.

On Saturday night at 11:00 p.m. CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency) told the Chatham-Kent Police Service that they had stopped the man on the Canadian side of the border before he was able to cross into the USA.

Early  Sunday morning at 12:30 a.m. he was arrested on the warrant and transported to CKPS Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

Stolen cheques

A 39-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested after a number of cheques were stolen from a business.

The cheques were stolen in February.

It all started in May when a woman allegedly deposited one of the stolen cheques into her own bank account. Further investigation revealed the cheque had also been altered prior to it being deposited. A warrant was issued for her arrest after she couldn't be found by police.

An officer saw her on Thames Street in Chatham on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

She was arrested on the warrant for a number of criminal charged including, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 x 2, forgery utter forged document fraud under $5000

The woman was transported to CKPS Headquarters and later released with a future court date.

Woman arrested on warrant

Early Sunday morning around 4:50 a.m. an officer observed the 25-year-old Chatham woman on Dover Street in Chatham.

Investigation revealed that she had warrants out for her arrest by CKPS.

On Sunday at 5:00 a.m. the woman was arrested on the warrants and transported directly to the South West Regional Detention Centre in Windsor.
