Police Briefs – Monday May 22, 2017

To keep an eye out on the roads this long Victoria Day weekend, the Chatham-Kent Police Service held another RIDE check program.

Police say approximately 120 vehicles were stopped and checked Sunday night on Talbot Rd. W near Victoria St. N in Wheatley.

A 19-year-old Aylmer man was issued a three-day license suspension.

Police are pleading drivers to avoid drinking and driving. They are also cautioning drivers to watch out for heavier than normal traffic on the roadways due to the Victoria Day celebrations.

According to police, a Wallaceburg man has been charged for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend’s father.

Police allege the man assaulted the father during a verbal altercation Sunday night.

The girlfriend’s father was sent by ambulance to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical treatment.

Police say the 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

A vehicle was reportedly stolen from a Wallaceburg residence on Turbull Ave. Sunday night.

Police say the stolen vehicle is reported to be white 2005 Acura with the Ontario license plates BXFR 787.
