A man has been charged with impaired driving after crashing into a mailbox.

Police say the man was driving a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV in Wallaceburg on Monday morning around midnight, when an officer spotted him allegedly driving all over the road on McNaughton Ave.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver did not stop until his car struck a mailbox on Gillard St.

There were no injuries.

The 23-year-old man allegedly had a strong odour of alcohol on his breath.

Police have charged a Chatham man with possession of break and enter tools.

Just before 1am on Monday, an officer observed a man riding a bicycle on Raleigh St.  When he drove a little closer to the man, he quickly rode his bicycle off of the roadway and stopped beside a house.

The officer believed the man did this in an attempt to hide.

The officer located the 25-year-old and through investigation, and police allege he had bolt cutters and a flashlight in his possession. An adjustable wrench, a spark plug, a camouflage mask and drugs were also allegedly located on him.
