Police Briefs – Saturday, October 8, 2016

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been caught with about $4,800 worth of methamphetamine.

Around 2pm on Friday, police noticed a vehicle speeding on Baseline Rd. in Wallaceburg. The officers initiated at traffic stop when the vehicle took off.

Police say they stopped the chase because of public safety concerns, but they were later able to locate the vehicle parked in a private driveway on Wills St. The female driver tried to run away but was quickly arrested.

Upon her arrest police found her in possession of drugs.

The Wallaceburg woman has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply, and multiple driving related offences. She will remain in custody pending a bail hearing.


Police have arrested two people in Thamesville.

On Friday around 7am, police were called about a suspicious vehicle along the railway tracks.

Upon arrival police found one vehicle in a ditch and a trailer parked under a bridge not too far away.

It was later determined the trailer had been stolen and the two people accused of stealing the trailer had tried to hide it when their vehicle got stuck.

Police have arrested a 31-year-old Thamesville man and a 19-year-old Thamesville woman. Both have been charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000. They have since been released with a future court date.


Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a break and enter in Chatham.

Sometime overnight on October 6, an unknown suspect(s) entered 12 storage units on Grand Ave. E., stealing many items.
