Police Briefs – Thursday, June 7, 2016

Police are asking the public to help identify the man who smashed the door window at the William Street Cafe in Chatham and stole the cash register.

The break in happened around 2:20am on Wednesday, July 6.

A London man has been charged after he was stopped in Chatham early this morning.

Police say the 26-year-old and another man were spotted in the area on Enclave Pl. and Morning Glory Lane around 3am.

Officers say one of the men had a hammer and screwdrivers, and was charged with possession of break-in tools.

Kicking in a door and getting into a fight has landed a Chatham man behind bars.

Officers were called to Park St. in Chatham around 3:30 yesterday afternoon after the man allegedly kicked in the door, causing $500 in damage.

Police say the suspect then got into a fight and allegedly punched the homeowner, causing minor injuries.

The 36-year-old was charged with break and enter and assault.
