Police Briefs – Tuesday, September 22, 2015

A traffic stop has landed a Chatham man with numerous charges, including two counts of driving while under suspension.

An officer pulled over an SUV at 1:10pm on Richmond St. Monday afternoon to look at the license plates.

During the stop, police discovered the driver had two active license suspensions, the license plates belonged to a different vehicle, the validation sticker had been tampered, and the vehicle had no insurance.

The SUV was impounded for seven day and the 36-year-old was charged.


Police are looking for a pick-up truck stolen over the weekend from the Stone Men business on Ivan St. in Chatham.

The unlocked white 1996 Chevrolet 350 truck was take sometime between midnight on September 19, and 6am on September 21.

The truck, worth $3,000, had the company name printed on the doors and had the Ontario license plates 143 4TZ.


Damage is estimated at $15,000 following a two-vehicle crash in Chatham.

Police say the accident happened shortly after 7am yesterday morning on Keil Dr. S near Richmond St.

No one was injured, but a 26-year-old woman was charged.


A 20-year-old man from Belle River has been charged in two-vehicle accident in Ridgetown.

No one was hurt in the crash, which happened around 8:30am yesterday morning on Water St. near Main St.

Damage is pegged at $6,000.
