A domestic incident has landed a 29-year-old Chatham man with numerous charges.

Police say the man and his common-law girlfriend were arguing yesterday morning when it escalated and he assaulted her.

The woman called a family member for help, and the suspect allegedly threatened to assault them too.

He assaulted her again when she fled with her young child, and threatened to break down a door after she was able to get back into their apartment.

Police have charged the suspect with three counts of assault, two counts of uttering threats, and one count of uttering threats to cause mischief.


Police are investigating after $1,000 of shingles were stolen from a Chatham business.

Sometimes late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, police say the lock to a fenced compound at Preferred Building Products on McGregor Place was cut.

39 bundles of Biltmore Weatherwood shingles were taken.


A 49-year-old Blenheim woman has been charged following a two-vehicle crash in Chatham.

Police say no one was hurt in the accident, which happened around 11:45am yesterday on Wellington St. W. near Third St.

Damage is estimated at $3,000.
