An employee who wasn’t afraid of a confrontation helped police arrest a shoplifting suspect at Shopper’s Drug Mart in Wallaceburg.

Police say a 25-year-old Walpole Island man is charged with theft and possession of stolen property after an employee at the store spotted him trying to steal a pair of Ecko earbuds last night.

The employee stopped the suspect and called police, who made the arrest.

Chatham-Kent police handed out some more speeding tickets yesterday afternoon.

Police say they stopped 18 motorists while conducting traffic enforcement on Longwoods Rd.

A 25-year-old Chatham man is facing a number of charges after police say he took his girlfriend’s phone and wouldn’t give it back to her.

Police say the couple was arguing at a friend’s apartment when he took the phone and later threatened her when they left in her vehicle.

Officers say he jumped out of the vehicle when she told him she was driving to police headquarters.
