Maroons drop Game 7 to Vipers 5-1

The Chatham Maroons saw a harsh defeat against the LaSalle Vipers in their final game of the quarterfinals on Sunday.

LaSalle had two points on the board during the first period and they added another goal 3:38 into the second frame. The Vipers had a three-goal lead going into third.

Lucas Fancy put up one goal for the Maroons 2:33 into the final period. The Vipers were able to clinch the win when they added another two goals during a power play.

Chatham goalie Kevin Linker made 35 saves out of 39 shots on net.

Tyler Roeszler, The Maroons head coach says he's proud of where the team has come from.

"We've come a long way," said Roeszler. "There's still more growth that's gonna happen moving forward, but you know you take a really young team and we tried to get everything we could out of them, and they gave us everything they had."

The Maroons had a 3-2 lead in the best of seven against the Vipers. After Game 5, they lost momentum and LaSalle took over.

Roeszler explains that it's a good learning experience for the team.

"We see where we need to go and how to we need to play to be able to close out series and when you're there being able to finish," he said.

The Vipers will advance to play the London Nationals in the next round.
