Lancers will play at home for provincial curling championship

The Ursuline Lancers boys' curling team is heading back to the Ontario School Curling Championship provincial event.

It's familiar territory for the team -- this is the third year in a row they have qualified -- and this time, they'll have home-ice advantage.

This year's tournament is being hosted by the Chatham Granite Club and runs from February 13-15.

The team of Alex Jeromel (skip), Austin Haddock (vice), John Pumfrey (second) and Caden Rivard (lead) won a qualifier in Leamington on December 14-15, 2019 and another qualifier in Woodstock on February 1-2, 2020 to clinch their spot.

The Lancers' first draw is set for 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 13 against Notre Dame Catholic High School. After that, the team is guaranteed at least two more contests before the playoffs.

UCC's second draw is at 7:30 p.m. on February 13 against Carleton Place High School and their third draw is at 4 p.m. on February 14 against Bracebridge & Muskoka Lake Secondary School.

The semifinals are set to take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 15 and the finals and consolation finals are set to follow that at 1 p.m.

Admission is free and spectators are welcome.
