Maroons trade cash for goaltending depth

The Chatham Maroons have picked up a new goaltender from a Western Conference rival.

And their latest acquisition indicates the team is going big in net.

The Maroons acquired Bryce Walcarius from the London Nationals on Sunday in exchange for cash considerations.

Walcarius -- a 17-year-old from Aylmer, ON -- played 11 games with the London Nationals to start the season, racking up eight wins and two losses over that stretch with a 2.95 GAA and an .892 SV%. He played the 2018-19 season with the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs Midget AAA team.

Listed at 6'3" and 145 lbs, Walcarius is the second goaltender the Maroons have added in recent weeks -- Chatham also acquired 6'1" Kevin Linker from Welland on October 9, 2019.

That gives the team a much taller tandem in net than they started the year with. They began the season by rolling out rookies Noah Zeppa at 5'9" and Tiago Rocha who is listed at 5'7".

Chatham's next game is Sunday, November 17 at home against the LaSalle Vipers. The Maroons are currently riding a two-game win streak after beating St. Marys and St. Thomas over the past weekend.
